Ethan's math term report improved from a C- to a B -, which greatly improved his self-esteem and
confidence as a young black marginalized child. His teacher remarked that she has noticed an increase in
his eagerness to participate in the learning environment, as well as an improvement in his math. I credit
the curriculum, but their tutor, Mr. Jefferson, has taken the time to invest in and create a solid
relationship with both of my children. I frequently hear the lesson and how he gently promotes their
confidence by meeting my children where they are academically in order to ensure that they go to the
